Art Is The Only Way by Fliss Goodwin

Hello!
I have another art journal page to share this week as one of my resolutions for 2019 is to fill up more pages in my A5 size journal which has been rather neglected of late. I think it needs more use as it's a great way to try out new techniques which is what I did here.

Step by Step:

I made my background first using 3 complimentary shades of Distress Oxide inks and decided to try out a different way of applying them. I started with the Broken China which I dabbed on my craft mat and misted with water. I then picked up the colour with my brayer and rolled it on my page, repeating until I had 3 areas coloured blue. I then used the same technique with Wilted Violet and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxides to fill the rest of the page with colour.

I then began to add more detail with texture stamps, starting with a script stamp and the violet oxide, followed by a broken circle background image with broken china. I next stamped on some circular images with the same inks and the alphabet background image with the raspberry. I finished off with the tiny number image stamped with the broken china.

I stamped my chosen text on black card with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I cut the words up into sections and glued them to the page to finish. The eagle eyed among you might spot that the word Art is on a similar coloured mat and this is because I began to draw around the text boxes starting at the top and didn't like it! I then had to rescue the page by adding the mat which I stamped with script to match the background.

Supplies:

Have a great weekend and see you next week.

  1. Fliss, it is wonderful, the inks laying so smooth and mixing so lovely, and the stamped patterns, and texts giving life to your page. The chosen words are favorites of mine, and I can guarantee they work,- as you maybe can , too .
Happy weekend to you and hugs, Dorthe xx

  4. Lovely colours and such a 'real' quote too , Fliss. Love how the oxides look when brayered and the circular stamps add a sense of movement that gives the quote strength in its meaning. x
