Imagination a Journal by Lynne Moncrieff

Hello
One of the projects made when That's Crafty! appeared on HOCHANDA in October, was a journal. I wanted the Word Flowers to be the focus of this journal.  Some areas were deliberately left blank, places to sketch, doodle, write thoughts, notations, whatever, simply a space.

Supplies

That's Crafty! Clear Stamp Sets Lynne's Word Flowers Sets 1 and 3
That's Crafty! Clear Stamp Set Lynne's Affirmations Set 11
That's Crafty! Lustre Sprays: Aubergine, Gold, Silver
That's Crafty! Flat Matte Sprays: Blackberry, Raspberry, Walnut
That's Crafty! Walnut Ink Crystals (and Teabag Paper)
That's Crafty! Multi-Surface Paint Interference Gold
Extras: Handmade Paper Concertina Booklet, Handmade Paper Panels, Sewing Machine, Thread

Instructions

Substitute paper with watercolour paper from the Mixed Media Paper/Card Kit

I will be sharing a wee video on social media, a flick through of the journal but here, I have included many photos.

I began with a concertina handmade paper book which I deconstructed. I then commenced to apply a wash of walnut ink onto the paper, allowing to semi-dry before spraying Flat Matte Sprays. This was then left to dry overnight.  I also prepared some extra panels of handmade paper. The next day, I misted the paper with Lustre Sprays in Aubergine, Gold and Silver but predominantly working with Aubergine.

Front cover

Affirmation from Set 11 and Word Flower stamped directly onto the cover. I then randomly applied Interference Gold paint to the flower head.

The joy of deconstructing concertina booklets or other books, you can form them into what you want, creating folds, pockets, flaps and other wee nooks and crannies.

On the first fold/flap, partially inking up a Word Flower, only the word "flourish", stamping onto a piece of prepared handmade paper before machine stitching to the edge of the flap/fold.

A border of stamped Word Flowers, stamping at various heights, without applying ink to the word element.

On the facing page to the "flourish" flap, another fold, this time stamping the flourish Word Flower onto the folded panel.  Machine stitched to the edge, a contrasting piece of paper.

Lift this up and it is another Word Flower, the smaller version of "growing" which was stamped onto the paper panel.

Turning the page...lift the panel with "dream" stamped onto it

to reveal another panel.  All those areas are ready for some journaling or sketching.

The "hope" Word Flower is stamped in the centre of the pages, with "joy" at the upper corner of the next page.

Turn the page and on the opposite side of "joy", we have "hope", with the larger sized "joy" Word Flower dominating the final page.

The Lustre Sprays, throughout this book, bring not only the beautiful lustre effect, it also creates another dimension on each page.

Finally, the rear cover, with the effect of the Lustre Sprays.
