Floral Artist Trading Coin Holder by Fliss Goodwin

Hello!

I have my artist trading coin holder to share this week and I was delighted to receive this clever holder to alter up and construct as a sample for the Hochanda shows. It's a lovely design and reminds me of a sleigh for some reason so I guess I will have to do a winter themed one at some point!

What I Did:

I first covered all sides of the pieces with an undercoat of white gesso. This is because I decided to colour the holder with ink sprays and wanted a coat to give the colours some tooth.

I next chose a couple of Melina's beautiful mandala floral designs and and stamped these on the side pieces with black ink, heat embossing with clear powder. As you'll see in the photos below, some of the stamping uses only part of the image as the stamps are 6cm in size to fit perfectly on an artist trading coin.

I then used ink sprays to colour the sections, using Flat Matte Sprays in Autumn shades - Saffron, Orange and Autumn Gold. I spritzed stronger colour on the floral images to make them stand out.

I used the new round stitches dinky stencil to add a pattern to all the inner sections with bright red multi surface paint and then glued all the pieces together with multi purpose craft adhesive (That's Crafty! glue pen is perfect for this)

Once it was all dry, I brushed metallic bronze multi surface paint over all the edges to finish off the look.

As you can see, the holder has plently of space to display your coins and in fact has 20 slots, plenty to use to store any you receive or just to store yours before swapping if that's what you want to do.
