Hi Everyone
Welcome to my weekly post as a Guest designer here at That's Crafty!
This week I have an 'art card' to share with you featuring a couple of resist techniques and some of my favourite stencils from StencilGirl® products.
Using mixed media paper as my substrate I spritz the paper with Distress Resist Spray, let it dry and then applied Versamark ink through a script stencil to heat emboss with ultra fine embossing powder. Next I added colour by applying Distress Inks using both the wrinkle free distress technique and a blending tool. The speckles created by the resist spray and the embossed script stencilling 'resist' the ink and retain their original colour - in this case white or tones thereof. To highlight the areas of resist a little more I lightly rubbed over the background with a paper towel.
I used black acrylic paint through my chosen stencils positioning the main focal image to the left of the background
and the 'pattern' stencilling to the right. All stencilling is highlighted using a white fine liner pen.
There's some detail stamping and a few light splatters of paint
- did you notice the one 'splat' that landed perfectly to act as a beauty spot! Well, that's what I'm calling it anyway!
I added a few words courtesy of Tim Holtz stickers. They are mounted firstly on white cardstock.
'Own your story' is then mounted on black mountboard to give some dimension when positioned in place
whilst 'be brave, be true' are mounted on black cardstock to sit flat on the background.
The finished piece of art is double mounted on mountboard.
