Knock at the Door by Donna Gray

Hi everyone,

It's Donna here today with a grungy tag featuring some of the fab greyboard embellishments from That's Crafty!

What I did:

I used this size 8 manila tag from my stash of Gelli printing, it was used to clean up the plate after i'd finished so had very yummy peeled paint effects on it. This got me thinking of creating a grungy type tag with a worn looking house on it that stands empty apart from a couple of weeks in the Summer.

I don't think it's on the That's Crafty! website yet but I got a really fab collection of ephemera in a little pack which I took a couple of pieces from it, tore them up and adhered them to the tag. I love the musical paper, just fitted in perfectly. You can use any of your own ephemera for this, I know we all have a stash of it don't we ;)

Next step was to take the greyboard house and shapes and paint them with a mixture of Multi Surface paints and doodle some flowers with a Posca pen. It all looked too neat and pristine so out came the Tim Holtz scratcher tool and I proceeded to then scratch all the pieces to give them that weather beaten look.

Once I was happy with that I added some white enamel dots onto the roof and set them aside to air dry.

I then got the sewing machine out...yes aren't I brave.... and did some zig zag sewing at the sides and left the threads dangling. The house was then adhered to the tag along with a little piece of twine added underneath the house.

The musical score was stapled on and a Tim Holtz sentiment was added.

Actually thinking about it, this house and its state of disrepair reminds me of my Summerhouse...oops!!
