Fields of Gold by Tracey Fairgrieve

Hello Crafty Friends,

Today I'm sharing what was through the keyhole of my 6x6 book shown
yesterday over on the That's Crafty! Close to Nature Challenge blog.

Here's those how to do's...

Using a page from my watercolour journal cut down to size 6x6 I layered
torn scraps from the remainder of the page along with lace and threads.
Watered down Flat Matte spray is applied as a wash onto those paper seams.

Flowers from Lynne's Wildflowers Set 1 were stamped onto decoupage rice paper,
carefully torn out and glued onto the scene with a thinned solution of craft adhesive.

Stamping the flowers on to vellum they were gently painted in Saffron Flat Matte spray.
Cut out each flower is scrunched, layered and a bead glued into place within each centre.

Machine stitch adds interest in and around the scene.

I loved this scene so much I thought it would be a shame to hide it in my book.
So I used it as a topper to create a card, mounted onto a 7 x 7 adding the same
Flat Matte wash around the outside and a sentiment from the same stamp set.

Those bright yellow signature flowers are usually yellow throughout but a dab of
glitter glue helps to bring back some of that, with each flower edged in gold.

I love seeing how rapeseed carpets the fields.

Maybe not the most popular for hay fever sufferers but those fields of gold
are a magnificent sight whether seen on foot or from up in the air.

Thank you for sharing your time and popping in to take a look.

Wishing you the best of days.

Creative Wishes
Tracey xx

  1. This is really gorgeous Tracey and the technique to create the flowers looks so very beautiful. A lovely tranquil scene.
The only thing about fields of gold for me is they make me very sad and they're the main culprit in causing my hayfever - doh!

  3. Yes stunning dear Tracey, so beautiful are the flowers created with cutting them out, and adding the bead, after scrunching them up . Also the sewing adds so much detail, and your amazing texture from adding yarn, too. This gives a real feeling of summer, bluish sky and yellow fields, which I also enjoy here very much.
    Hugs to you- xxx

  7. Your fields of gold are stunning Tracey, it would have definitely been a shame to hide this away in your journal. I especially love the way you added the vellum flowers for dimension.
I am happily humming Eva Cassidy's beautiful song now... Hugs, Anne xx
