Hello everyone, I have a mixed media piece to share this week with a decided shabby chic look as I've gone for lots of aged texture and crinkled my flowers to fit in with the worn look of the background. Read on to find out how it all came about.
Step by Step
I'm working on one of the new MDF circular surfaces in this case the 6 inch diameter circle and the first step was to add a pattern with texture paste through the leaf spirals stencil, the pattern being on the right side as you'll see below.
Once the paste was dry, I brushed on a good coat of midnight multi surface paint for my under layer which needed to be a strong colour as my intention was a more pastel finish.
I then added a coat of crackle glaze and once it was almost dry, brushed a coat of light blue multi surface paint over the top. I then sat back and waited for the crackle to appear - it doesn't take long!
As you can see, I gained a really lovely aged and shabby effect.
I next set about making my flowers and leaves using scraps from my Gelli prints box in soft shades contrasting with my blue background. I stamped 3 complete flowers and 3 centres and 2 leaves then cut everything out.
I scrunched up the floral elements and glued them together with 3D gel glue, then glued them to the background with the same adhesive.
I finished off with the flower quote stamped on a scrap of toning Gelli printed paper.
Supplies:
Distress Oxide Inks (used to make my Gelli prints)
Extras - Green Ribbon
Have a great weekend and see you next week.

Gorgeous with that stencil on the background, and wow, giving it the crackle glace to almost transform the patter to the most wonderful old worn out background piece, is a great idea- Fliss. Looks so amazing- with your lovely shabby flowers on top, I so admire this art piece, dear. Hugs from Dorthe, xxx
