Plenty of Courage by Lynne Moncrieff
Hello
This project is my first play with the recently released Chunkies, this being the 8"x8" size.
It was the recent Limited Edition PaperArtsy Seth Apter paints which were calling me with the inspirational stamp from PaperArtsy EAB being the springboard for the focal of the heart, nesting in a previously rusted vintage tart tin. The colour of the rusted tin was perfectly set against the Seth Apter paint choices and a That's Crafty! Textures Collection stamp the perfect stamp for my background.
This is a photo heavy post but I wanted to share a few detail photos of the Crackle Glaze texture on the Chunkie.

Instructions
After applying Gesso to the assembled Chunkie, I set to work with the Fresco paints and Crackle Glaze, following the instructions for the Glaze.
When applying the Crackle Glaze I did not apply evenly. For full disclosure, I noticed that the texture became more heightened once I started to apply Distress Crayons and I enjoyed the process of taking the time to build up thin layers of colour, working with water to blend the crayons and at times removing colour with kitchen paper - let's just say, I had lots of playtime!
Re-wind for a moment because prior to working with the Distress Crayons, I stamped the circle from the Textures Collection, with Potting Soil and then dipped the end of a paint pen (or anything you have to hand!) into the MSP White, to create the white circles/dots.
The stamping was also carried over to the edges.
A R&As heart was painted with Frescos and Crackle Glaze although sadly, there is little evidence of crackle and a touch of Distress Crayons. It was then tucked into a vintage tart tin which I had previously rusted (placed outdoors with various bundles for some eco dying/rusting). Wrapped the top of the heart with eco dyed nettle yarn, with the tails left to hang over the tart tin.
I enjoy working with quote/sentiment stamps by breaking up the words or in this instance, working with the one stamp in three ways. I think it can bring more power to the words.
Above the heart, partially stamped onto eco dyed rice paper with a fragment of more of the paper attached to a rusted safety pin.
Then below the heart, "plenty of courage". Above, a piece of re-cycled/found paper which I decided to loosely pleat, attaching two Tiny Attacher staples for detail and at the other end, another fragment of eco dyed rice paper.
This was my first play with the new Chunkies and if I was giving a review, they are easy to assemble, and although they are substantial, with them being hollow, they are not too cumbersome to display. Flip it over and if you choose, there is a small keyhole shape making it easy to hang on a wall. They have lots of scope, no matter your artistic style or preferred media.
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit.

This is marvellous Lynne, love how you have given a detailed account of how it came to be even explaining about the crackle paste and your findings. The chunkies are genius and I love their versatility the 8x8 is a big size to fill which you've executed perfectly.
