Hello
This week I am sharing a fabric collage with a beautiful Character Constructions stamp as the focal.
I'm always interested as to what is the springboard of inspiration for a project. For this project, it was words which had been stamped onto a piece of eco dyed book text, mistakenly stamped! I laid it aside and then much further down the line, the beautiful Character Constructions stamp happened to be lying beside it and I realised, time for a project.
Now, much of this project is formed from eco dyed textiles but if you don't want to venture down that route, I suggest PaperArtsy Infusions, try The Sage and Black Knight to achieve the colour tones I have on my project but experiment, is that not where most of the fun is?!
Supplies
Extras: off-cut tree branch, teabags, found papers and textiles eco-dyed, sewing machine
Instructions
Gather selection of eco dyed or Infusions stained textiles and papers. The focal is stamped onto an eco dyed large, self-fill tea bag which I opened carefully at the seams. Inking up the stamp, I took the teabag to the upwards facing stamp, pressing the paper lightly onto the stamp, ensuring transfer of image. I then tore around the stamped image ensuring the upper edge of the teabag remained.
Onto eco stained book page, which also has a sprinkling of Infusions Black Knight, stamp the PaperArtsy EEA words, only partially inking up this particular stamp, stamping on lower corner.
Continue stamping, partially inking up stamp from PaperArtsy EAB02, the words "Dwell on the beauty of life", stamping onto fragment of eco dyed paper. Re-ink, this time "the beauty of life", stamping onto eco dyed rice paper.
Now that all the stamping has been carried out, gather the various elements. Begin assembling the fabric collage, a combination of adhering with glue and machine stitching. Create handle with twig, wrapping with nettle yarn, attaching to fabric collage. Stitch one of the stamped sentiments to collage, on upper right corner, leaving thread tails to hang loose. Add further interest with natural elements such as coconut shell button, twig wrapped with nettle yarn and another piece of the nettle yarn formed into a loose circle.
This is one of the reasons I am passionate about stamping. Stamps allow us to go and create something from nothing - aside from the specific craft supplies listed above, all other items were from around the home and garden.
Thank you for your visit and just to add, if you are interested in any Character Constructions stamps, contact Laura Holland and she will special order for you.
