Hello,
For my first project of 2018, I am sharing a panel with a nature theme, a Dinky Stencil - Feather as the focal. The panel also features That's Crafty! Texture Pastes which were launched towards the end of last year.
That's Crafty! Light Texture Paste
That's Crafty! Clear Stamp Set - Textures Collection Set 3
That's Crafty! Clear Stamp Set - Lynne's Affirmations Set 1 and Set 2
That's Crafty! Metallic Paint - Antique Gold
Ranger Archival Ink Pad Designer Series - Potting Soil
Palette Knife
Extras:-
Twig
Old/Found Papers
Copper Washer
Beeswax
Old Brush (for applying the beeswax)
Ranger Melt Pot
Fabric and Resin Paper Scraps
Instant Coffee Granules
Eco Stained Papers
Gel Medium
Instructions
Sprinkle coffee granules onto panel, dissolving by placing panel under running tap. Leave to dry thoroughly. Apply random areas of the Sand Texture Paste. When dry, ink up the beautiful script stamp from Textures Collection Set 3 and randomly stamp onto panel, selecting to stamp onto areas where there is the least amount of texture. Lay panel aside for the moment.
Focus on focal element which will be a stencilled feather. Selecting a piece of found paper, (it might have been rice paper), which had been left to stain in the garden, the feather was stencilled with Light Texture Paste. Leave to dry thoroughly before moving onto next step.
Melt beeswax in Ranger Melt Pot (or chosen substitute). Taking care, dip the stencilled feather into the Melt Pot. Remove and continue to use melted beeswax, dipping in some other eco stained found papers. Next, drip beeswax onto the white/greyboard panel.
My favourite way of applying the Metallic Paints, fingertips! Dip fingertip into Antique Gold and lightly apply to raised, textural areas of panel and edges of stencilled feather paper. The result should be a subtle hint of metallic.
Begin assembling. Adhere twig, wrapped with jute twine, to top edge of panel, layered with pieces of the papers which had been dipped into the beeswax. Place stencilled feather as focal image, layering to centre of feather, fragments of resin paper and fabric, topped with copper washer.
Partially ink up Affirmation from Set 1, only requiring "my delicate wings", stamping onto margin of old book paper. Onto piece of eco stained rice paper, stamp "Soar" from Affirmation from Set 2. Layer the stamped elements with more of the wax dipped papers, assembling beneath the stencilled feather.
Until next time,
Wishes
Lynne
