Prairie Days by Lynne Moncrieff

When I first looked at Kasia Avery’s faces stamp from EEA06, the particular woman I selected to ink up, is a face, that to me, shows great fortitude and this brought to mind the women during the time of the Pioneers, which made me think of Willa Cather’s writings. Isn’t it funny how the brain works especially as it has been many, many years since I last visited Cather’s works.

Supplies

Old Bristle Brush
Extras: Torn, vintage crochet lace, lace rose trim, calico scraps, vintage button and thread

Instructions

Apply Rust Finish kit to bag, aim for a distressed appearance, as though faded in areas.  Also apply to torn vintage crochet lace and lace rose trim. Dab the dirty paintbrush onto scraps of calico. Leave all to dry.

Ink up a face from EEA06, stamping onto the lightly stained calico scrap. If you have a sewing machine, machine stitch borders or as I did, stamp stitches.  Layer onto other calico scraps before adhering to bag.

Trim upper edge of bag with the rusted crochet lace and lace rose trim. Embellish with vintage button.

There’s no reason the bag couldn’t be used to store some vintage treasures or suchlike.

Until next week,

Wishes

Lynne

  2. This is delightful Lynne, what a wonderful and creative idea. I would like to think of it as a holder for vintage papers or photographs of days gone by. The perfect place to hold them safe.
