Love Autumn by Bev Hilton

Hello everyone. I hope you are all having a great week. I am sharing a very large tag which I made for our recent shows on Hochanda, which featured the new Autumn/Christmas stencils and greyboard sheets. Leonie loved this tag but there was a little confusion as to how this leaf was created. It really is very easy to do so here are the how to's.

Here's  what I used...

Creative Expressions Ivory Card
Hessian
That's Crafty! Surfaces Bits & Pieces Greyboard Sheet - Reindeer, Christmas Tree and Christmas Birds
Ranger Craft Metal
Ranger Alcohol Inks - Botanical, Meadow, Red Pepper, Cranberry and Sunshine Yellow
Adirondak Ink - Cranberry
Tim Holtz Die...Alphabet Strip 656623
Ribbon from stash

Here's what I did...

I took the stencil and a piece of the craft metal and ran it through my Big Shot which gave a great emboss onto the metal sheet. Carefully cut out the leaf and drop on the alcohol inks until happy with the look. Set this aside to dry thoroughly. Cut a piece of hessian slightly larger than the leaf, allowing space for the wording. Pull out some of the weave to give a frayed edge. Cut a piece of ivory card a little bigger than the hessian. Take the two texture elements from the stamp plate and using the Cranberry and Vintage Sepia, stamp around the edge of the card. Using a blending tool, blend a little of the Cranberry lightly around the edge. Glue the hessian to the card and then mount the leaf. Die cut the letters from some brown colour core card stock and lightly sand. Glue into place to create the wording.

Take the bird from the greyboard sheet and give it a coat of white gesso. Colour the bird with the Umber paint and Antique Gold paint. Using a fine liner pen, draw in the markings on the bird. Using a cocktail stick and the Antique Gold paint, dip the stick into the paint and lay this on the breast of the bird, covering the breast area to give texture. This paint keeps its form really well. Once paint is dry add some white highlights with the Signo pen. Take the Word Band and rub on some Ruby paint to highlight the letters and glue across the stem of the leaf.

Mount onto another piece of ivory card, punch a whole for the ribbon. Die cut a couple of hole reinforcements and tie on the ribbon.

I hope you like it.

All for now and hope see you back here next week.
