Fly Ever Upwards by Dorthe Hansen

A new week, a new Monday,  meaning  I’m here with my Monday blog post for That’s Blogging Crafty! I wish you all a wonderful new week !!

For this I reached for one of the larger white/greyboard tags and used Distress Oxide Frayed Burlap directly on the grey side !!

Then I adhered a piece of musical node paper to the bottom part of the tag. I used the Dinky Stencil Harlequin, first with Iced Spruce and then both on the top and buttom of tag, with texture paste. I let it dry completely before I smeared Stazon Spiced Chai to the top of the stenciled layers, and also all around the edges of the whole tag. A piece of fabric was also dapped with Spiced Chai and adhered to the music paper.

Then I adhered a skeleton leaf to the upper part of tag and carefully painted it with Shimmer Paint Turquoise.

Time to use some of my favorite embellishments - greyboard Bits and Pieces. I chose one of the beautiful birds, a big snowflake and a bough of mistletoe. Every piece was first painted with Metallic Paint Pearl and left to dry. The snowflake was then put inside an embossing folder and run through my Big Shot. Then I added a layer of the Frayed Burlap and on top of that, I painted with Green and Turquoise Shimmer mixed together.

The bird was also painted with a bit of Dark Blue and Charcoal and I added details with a black Sharpie and Metallic Pearl, to show head and wings . Then it was all painted with the beautiful Metallic Gold, both little accents to the bird, the leaves on the mistletoe and the snowflake were decorated with this amazing and lovely shining paint. The berries on the Mistletoe were naturally painted with a white acrylic.

All was adhered with Multi Purpose Craft Adhesive to the tag. I folded an elongated piece of fabric to form a flower, added a piece of lace, a flower from my stash and another fabric, torn to very thin ribbon, was adhered under the flower. Lastly I stamped words from Lynne’s Affirmations on to a piece of tissue paper, torn them ou and adhered to the skeleton leaf. A Sari silk ribbon was attached to display the tag.

Dear friends, I hope your Monday will be a good and safe Monday, with laughter and joy.

Hugs and love

Dorthe

  6. Oh wow Dorthe! This tag is glorious! The harlequin background and the desiccated leaf really work well for the fist layer. The birdie and branch and textured snowflake look perfect next, I love that you put a snowflake in it as sometimes this early in the year we can have a chilly day! The blue fabric rose really finishes it off beautifully! Well done!

    1. Terri, thank you , friend , the snowflake just had to be there, it kind of suited the cold blue tones, and -yes- gave a feeling of late autumn, early winter :-), you are so kind visiting me here, dear friend.

  16. Dorthe, beautiful work with the various That's Crafty products. The bird has been painted with skill and I love the flower you created. The hints of blue remind me of winter which is just around the corner but the brown tones have that lovely Autumnal feel.
