Summer Dream by Bev Hilton

Hello everybody. It's that time of the week again so I'm here sharing a GiganTAG I made some time ago for the Hochanda shows featuring these products. It was one of my favourite pieces that I've not yet shared, so with time being short and the weather still so lovely I thought I'd stay with summer.

Here's what I used...

That's Crafty! Word Series Stencils - Dream WS005, Discover WS009, Journal WS006
That's Crafty! Dinky Stencils - Circles TC005, Pebbles TC046
That's Crafty! Shimmer Paints - Aqua, Green, Yellow, Gold, Blue, Dark Blue, Pearl, Purple
Dina Wakley Acrylic Paint - Red, Night, Lime, Lemon, Tangerine, Blackberry
Texture Gel - White Sand
White Gesso
Lace from my stash

Here's what I did...

I began by applying a very thin layer of gesso over the whole tag. I then took the Discover stencil as I wanted the bricks that are on it and applied Grunge Paste through it to create the bricks at the bottom. I took the Dinky Circles and applied Grunge Paste at random and did the same with the Pebbles. I needed a little more texture and grassy feel so grabbed some texture gel and applied it where my flowers were to go. I also added some lace just above the bricks. I left this overnight to ensure it was all complete dry.

I coloured the greyboard wildflowers with the acrylic paints. I coloured the dragonflies with Starlight paints. Once the flowers were dry I highlighted areas of those too with the Starlight medium. On the flowers at the top (I felt these looked like wisteria), I added some Old Rose Sparkle medium. Put these aside to dry.

Now the fun part. I started layering on the That's Crafty! Shimmer paints over the MDF tag giving a summer day feel.

Once dry, which doesn't take long at all, I glued all my pieces into place. I then took the Dream stencil and blended through the Sparkle medium. Once everything was dry I decided to add the eyes and wording from the Affirmations Stamp Set with Archival ink. My final add was some glitter into the middle of my poppy.
