Today I have a
simple, small card to share using Distress Oxides and paints and a That’s
Crafty! greyboard butterfly (from the Bits and Pieces Large Butterfly Sheet).
My background is
created by building up layers of Distress Oxides. Take one colour and place
some on a craft mat, spritz with water and lay the card in it. Dry between
layers and repeat. I used Worn Lipstick, Vintage Photo and Broken China. I
added a little extra blue through a Dinky stencil (TC068) and spritzed again.
Finally I added a little Blueprint Sketch Distress ink around the edges.
I took one of the
greyboard butterflies and gave a coat of white gesso. Once dry I added some
Distress Crazing Medium and allowed to dry. As I ended up adding paint next you
can’t really see the subtle cracks but hopefully some of the texture. I then
used Blueprint Sketch and Work lipstick Distress paints before adding a little
embellishment from my stash.

I love the contrast of the Butterflies wings amongst the background of the card Nikki and the little embellishment really does set it all off. Simple design with a knock out effect. Hugs Tracey xx

ReplyDeleteAn amazing background for your elegant butterfly , Nikki, so beautiful with the Oxides, used to stenciling , and the texture on the blue little flyer is looking wonderful.

Love the soft chalky layers of your Oxide background, and the butterfly is so pretty with just that hint of shimmery crackle.
