Time Wall Hanging by Melina Dahl

I had so much fun making this piece with all the new, gorgeous greyboard embellishments. This time I have a little step-by-step photo tutorial for you.

I started by using three 4x4 white/reyboard panels. I added modeling paste through the 8x8 Clock Stencil on all of them. I used bits and pieces from “Clocks and Cogs” greyboard embellishments in the corners and also to join the panels together, using gel medium.  While the modeling paste was still wet I added the TIME and clock embellishments. I also added a tiny bit of mini art stones at the corner pieces for extra texture.

I painted the whole piece with black gesso and then I painted the embellishments with a layer of brown rust paste.

I continued with adding a wash of white gesso on different areas of the three pieces. I then continued with Turquoise and Copper Shimmer Paints which I sprayed with water so they could move a little on my panels. I added red rust paste to the embellishments as well.

I continued playing with my paints and pastes till I was happy. I glued the cogs down with gel medium.

I thought I needed a little more contrast and color, so I picked out the Blue Shimmer paint and the Bronze Metallic paint and added a few splashes here and there. I made two holes through the top panel and added wire, that also got a little coat of rust paste.

Finally I painted a scrap piece of paper with Charcoal Shimmer paint and white embossed the quote. I added some details with the Charcoal paint in the clock and around the word TIME for some more definition and to bring it all together.

I used:

I´m quite happy with my little rusty, shimmery, steam punky piece.
Hope you enjoyed!
