Hi Everyone
This week I have been playing with alcohol inks, Yupo paper
and stencils. I keep coming across this combination at the moment so I thought
I would give it a try.
Here’s What I Did:
My
stencil of choice was to use That’s Crafty's Big Floral one. I taped the stencil
to the Yupo as the stencil needs to stay in place for a while. I then dropped
different coloured drops of alcohol inks into the spaces of the stencil. You
will notice that the inks seep under the stencil but don’t remove the stencil.
Once you are happy that the stencil is filled with colour leave the stencil in
place and put to one side. The alcohol inks need to be totally dry before you
remove the stencil, trust me don’t me in a rush to remove it……… needless to say
this is my second attempt. Removing the stencil to soon will make all the
alcohol inks run into each other and you will lose the stencil effect. I left
the stencil in place for about half an hour to be sure.
I then
mounted the Yupo onto black card and added to a card blank. I stamped the
sentiment using one of the stamps from That’s Crafty! Inspirational Quotes
sets.
One of
the draw backs of this technique is that the alcohol inks will stain your
stencil and you will need to clean them with rubbing alcohol or alcohol ink
blending solution, I cleaned mine over a piece of deli paper and ended up with
another background for a later project.
Here’s What I Used:
Alcohol Inks - Asstd colours
Alcohol Blending Solution (for cleaning)
Deli Paper
Have a fabulous week and I’ll see you next Tuesday

This is a fascinating piece Amanda, it shows the quality of the stencil and its weight as with other stencils i'm sure if you left it for longer the inks would seep underneath. Love the effects achieved and it's inspired me to give this a go as I have admired all seen using Yupo but never taken the plunge. Thank you for sharing.. Hugs Tracey xx
