Don't Give Me Cattitude by Bev Hilton

Hello everybody. Bev here for my weekly spot on the blog today with the lovely Bentley. Does he have cattitude? Well maybe just a little :-)

Here's what I used...

That's Crafty! Dinky Stencils - Bricks and Bubbles
Dina Wakley Acrylic Paints - Lapis, Sky, White and Umber
Archival Ink Pads - Black, Cobalt, Orange Bloom and Plum
Newton & Windsor Drawing Inks - Deep Red, Sunshine Yellow & Brilliant Green
Distress Oxide Ink Pads - Vintage Photo and Fossilized Amber
Polychromo Pencils
Brother P-Touch
Pinflare Glue Gel
Gems from my stash

Here's what I did...

I already had a piece of card from a previous project left over (I keep everything lol), that had been created by swiping the edge of the two Distress inks across a Gelli Plate and laying down onto smooth white card stock so I decided to see what Bentley looked like stamped onto it. I felt he looked rather good and didn't want to waste him so my creation began.

I added some extra colour with pencils. I also decided to draw in some eyes and change his nose which I did with the fine liner pen. I then took the tag and sponged on the white acrylic paint.

Once dry I sponged on the Sky paint softly. Using the sponge adds extra texture. I squeezed out a little of the Lapis paint and added some water and using a paint brush, flicked the paint over to add some splashes. I felt the splashes were a little dark so I knocked it back by taking a sponge with the white paint and lightly sponged over the tag to soften the look. Now happy I took the Textures Stamp Set and the Dinky Bubbles stencil and used the square hessian looking stamp to stamp through some of the circles with the cobalt ink pad. I then took another element from the stamp plate that has the circles on it and holding it in my hand so I could use just a small element of it, stamped with the Orange blossom ink pad randomly over the tag.

I then took another element from the stamp set which looks like scribbled lines and used the Orange Blossom ink pad to stamp all around the edges of the tag. I then went back to the hessian looking stamp and again, holding it, I used the Plum to just touch around the edges to darken it. Now happy with the look I took the Dinky Brick stencil and Umber paint to blend through and create the brick work. All these steps were also used on the base of the upright too.

I glued Bentley in place. He looked like he was a little grumpy and that's when the wording sprang to mind. I typed the words into my P-Touch and stuck them onto smooth white card so that I could ensure they stuck well on the tag. I placed the wording and stamped the word Smile from the Bentley stamp plate in black Archival ink directly onto the tag. I used the flower from the Beki stamp set and stamped 5. I cut the flowers and leaves and used the drawing inks to colour them.

Once the flowers were dry I shaped them and using the Pinflare Glue Gel I glued them onto the tag. Bentley needed a little bling so I took three gems from my stash and stuck them on his collar. I added a few white highlight on Bentley with the white Posca pen and finished off by using the black fineliner to extend Bentley whiskers and draw round the wording.

I hope you like it. Much love,

Bev. xxx
