What Do You See? by Laura Holland

Supplies Used:

That’s Crafty! Black Gesso (coming soon)

I started by braying lots of different colours of acrylic paint onto 2 of the white/greyboard pages of my journal. I also scrapped some of the paint on with an old credit card.

Taking the Alphabet stencil, I drew round each of the letters I was using with a white Posca pen and then drew round the outside of the letters with a black Posca pen.

I stamped the eyes from the Lynne’s Affirmations stamp set 3 times directly onto the paint covered white/greyboard page and then I stamped 3 acrylic rectangles with the eyes. I coloured the eyes with Posca pens on the opposite side to my stamped image, as I wanted a 3d effect. I then stuck them over the stamped images on the journal page with 3D Gloss Gel.

You can’t see it very well in my pictures but I also stamped the butterfly wings from the Affirmations Stamps Set on the opposite page of the journal. I stamped them in black and then stamped over them again with the Moonlight White ink. I then stuck 3 of the hexagon shaped acrylic pieces over the butterfly wings, again using 3D Gloss Gel.

Next I placed the Butterfly Wings stencil on my journal pages and painted through this with black gesso. When this was dry, I placed the stencil back over the image and stamped the text from the Textures stamp set through the stencil. Keeping the stencil in place, I then drew round the images with a metallic marker, removed the stencil and drew round the images with a white Posca pen.

  1. Superb break down of how to's Laura. Those acrylic shapes magnify the stamped images and really draw the eye in just like those Posca highlights.. Fab journal pages.. Hugs Tracey xx
