Art House by Lynne Moncrieff

Today I have something new from That’s Crafty to share!

They are launching shrines which is exciting news as the shrines vary in styles and size and the largest size, we are talking large! I slipped up and didn’t measure this Art House but this is the largest size shrine and it is very generous in size with depth in the shadowbox to allow and depth for embellishing as you wish.

The That’s Crafty! Inspirational Quote stamp was perfect to pair with the Art House.

Supplies

Sharpie Paint Pens – White, Black
Mini Canvas with Easel
Palette Knife/Old Credit Card
Extras: Paintbrush, Sari Ribbon

Instructions

It’s your choice if to prepare the shrine before assembling or after. My choice is usually, to prepare, assemble and add any final touches of media, stamping, etc as once it is assembled I can get a good idea of any additions to help balance the overall appearance.

Prepare surfaces with Gesso before applying the Fresco paint from the Seth Apter collection with an old credit card/gift card.

Onto the top of the house, stamp 'art house' with the fabulous new PaperArtsy EEA05 set.  Onto the rest of the frame, stamp the word 'art' repeatedly. It isn’t about being able to read the words, this creates pattern. Onto the bottom edge of the frame, stamp create art.

For the shadowbox element of the shrine, stencil create and art. Create pattern on this panel and the frame with stamps from EEA02. Highlight with paint pen.

Randomly apply paint to white cardstock. Stamp art wheel, paintbrush, paint tubes and Inspirational Quote. Cut out. Adhere one of the stamped paintbrushes above “Create”.  The house can now be assembled.

Onto a mini canvas, apply paint. After cutting the Inspirational Quote into word tiles, adhere to the painted canvas, scribble around the words with paint pens. Paint the easel.  Adhere canvas to the easel.

For the colour wheel, with the EAA alphabet stamps, stamp the word artist. Assemble the canvas, colour wheel, brushes and paint tubes, with Gel Medium to the shrine.

Adhere a grungy paintbrush to top of shrine. I used a messy brush, allowing the paint to harden. Wrap sari ribbon around end of paintbrush before adhering.

That’s the Art House, ready to be displayed in your art room – although this is possibly the same dimensions as my own wee art space!!!  It’s a fabulous size to work with and imagine the possibilities – decorate it for a New Home gift or a way to honour your own home and family or a vintage style house.

There will be more shrines to share very soon!
