Hi
there, if you caught last week’s Hochanda shows with the gorgeous array of
brand new That’s Crafty! goodies, you may have seen my dreamcatcher. I was sent
the lovely heart shaped one and I’ve made it double sided so this week you’ll see
one side and the reverse next week. This is the bright and cheery side.
Ingredients:
Extras
from stash – oval jump rings, antique gold filigree etchings, chiffon ribbon
Recipe:
I
first gave all of the pieces a coat of Gesso as I find when painting with the
Pebeo paints, it helps them to get a grip. I then used the stencil with the
texture paste to add a pattern randomly on the large heart.
Paint
the large heart in shades of blue and green, using a sponge to apply the paint.
Paint 4 of the small hearts with red and orange shades – I made these the outer
sections. I stamped the text on 2 hearts for opposite sides.
Then
I painted the 4 hearts with centre top holes with blue and pink shades. I
embossed round the edges with the embossing antiquities powder and added more
paint over the top to blend the colours a little. I added some stickers to
these hearts.
Stamp
a variety of butterflies from the Prima sets on stamping card with the black
ink and paint some in shades of red, orange, yellow and blue. Cut these out and
add some to the large heart. I chose to set them in a meandering shape to
emphasis the following dreams theme. I also added a couple of small
butterflies to the remaining red hearts.
Then
came the tricky bit as I decided to assemble my dreamcatcher with jump rings
and as I wanted to have a string of hearts, I ended up using some filigree
metal etchings lurking in my stash to do this. As they had holes top and
bottom, I was able to use them to link the hearts together with some pretty
detail. You can of course use the cord that comes with the kit but I wanted to
explore other options!
We
have a new challenge for you today over at That’s Crafty! Challenge Blog so
don’t forget to check it out at 8am to see how you can win a fab prize.
Have
a great weekend and see you next week.
