Hi
there, welcome to the second part of my nature themed double sided triptych
project which on this side features one of my favourite flowers and was
inspired by the current desktop image on my computer which is a gorgeous meadow
scene with lots of colourful poppies.
Ingredients:
Martha Stewart Satin Acrylic Paints – Geranium, Green Olive
Ranger Archival Inks – Jet Black, Fern Green, Wild Orchid
Old
Store Card
Recipe:
If
you refer to my project for last week, you’ll see that I covered the panels
first with white gesso. I then coloured the top halves of the panels with a mix
of blue and white paints and the lower halves with yellow and green.
I
stamped poppies on the panels with the VersaFine black ink, 3 on the main panel
and 1 on each of the side panels and heat embossed the images with clear
powder.
I
then gave the flowers a basecoat of pale pink – I find this a bit softer than
white. This gives a good background for the further painting of the poppies
bearing in mind they’re on a combination of blue and yellow!
The
next step is the fun one as it’s time to grow your field! I started off by using
an old store card with the olive paint to make blades of grass across the
panels. I then added some stamped grasses using a stamp from my stash (if you
don’t have one, just take a look at the fab new Paper Artsy Lin Brown stamps –
ELB30 has some stunning grasses).
I
then did something I hope Darcy will forgive me for as I wanted a different
grass image and obtained it by snipping the last shorter grass off the side and
using it with the wild orchid ink. I then painted the poppies with the geranium
paint (wrong flower I know but it’s a lovely bright red).
I
added more detail with dots of paint and swipes of orange with the store card
until I was happy with the effect. I stamped some butterflies on stamping card
with the black Archival ink and painted on some colour, just a little pale
yellow as I wanted a good contrast to the background. I glued these on to
finish.
We
have a new challenge for you today over at That’s Crafty! Challenge Blog so
don’t forget to check it out at 8am to see how you could win a fab prize.
Have
a great weekend and see you next week.
