Still Playing with Tim Holtz New Stamps by Amanda Southern

Hi Everyone

I hope you’ve all had a good bank holiday weekend despite the weather. I make no apologies for todays post, I know I’ve used the same stamp as last week, but I just love these new stamps from Tim Holtz, so I just had to give this chap another outing.

This time I have given him a more Steampunk look.

Here’s What I Did:-

I started with a piece of mixed media card and stencilled through the circles using heavy gesso. Once dry I then coloured with Distress inks. I then needed to add my stamped image but as the heavy gesso leaves a raised surface I wouldn’t get a sharp image so I first stamped onto tissue paper and then covered the piece of stencilled card with it using matt medium. The tissue moulds into the texture still leaving a textured finish. To highlight the stencilled texture I lightly brushed gilding wax over it using my finger.

You can see the effect that this creates on the stamped image.

Next I die cut several of the gears dies including the corner die from a gelli print I had in similar colours. Once cut I toned the colour down with randomly dabbed on black paint and then added more touches of gilding wax.

To add another layer of texture I put a piece of black card through a Texture Elements embossing folder which also got the gilding wax treatment, again to highlight the texture and pattern.

All was then mounted onto another piece of black card and lightly rubbed with gilding wax before being added to a card blank.

I haven’t added any words or sentiment as I might use it for a Fathers Day card I still have to decide on that part.

I hope you don’t mind me showcasing this stamp again, but I just love it. I promise I won’t use it next week LOL.

See you next Tuesday
