Morning everyone, Debs here with a journal page
for you this week. I used different colours than my usual palettes as I wanted
to challenge myself. I do this occasionally as I think you can get stuck using
colours that you like, and forget there are so many different colour
combinations that work well together.
Here's what I did
Working in my large journal I scraped some heavy bodied acrylic across the page in two colours and with a baby wipes and
stencils, took off some of the colour.
Over this with a word and number stencil and a
dark complementary colour, I stencilled randomly over the page.
I also added more stencilling with a metallic
colour to added some interest to the page as it shimmers.
Next I stamped my focal point using black Ink. I
added three bottles, as our eyes like to see odd numbers. I stamped flowers as
if they were in the bottles, as well as some fallen seed heads.
Dried this off with a heat tool and I painted some
areas with a shimmering watercolour paint. I chose a colour opposite on the
colour wheel to make it pop. Added some script too here and there.
With a black water soluble oil pastel I added some
shadow. I did this lightly as I didn't want it to stand out too much.
I edged the page with a water soluble crayon in a
brown to age and distress the page which also acted a little as a frame. This
was blended in to give a subtle look and finished the page with a sentiment.
Once completely dry I added a seal with Matte Medium which as a vintage tint.
What I used
Dylusions
by Ranger Large Journal
Dina Wakley by Ranger Heavy Bodied Acrylic (new colours, Blushing and Cheddar)
That's Crafty! Dinky Stencils (new release, Bubbly All Over, Enchanted, Numbers and Moc
Croc)
PaperArtsy Stamp Sets HP1203, HP1505, EEG15
I was pleased with the result especially how the
shimmer from the purple colour worked against the background and the stencils
being such a fab size to work with and store. They are so versatile as I was
able to take a large bunch of them on my hols and they took no space at all.
Their fab size meant I had plenty of variety to choose from.
Well next week my post will be coming from home as
I return from my hols on Saturday. So I'll wish all of you who celebrate it a
Happy Easter.
Hugs from Debs xx
