We are very excited to be launching our own range of Stackable Storage Boxes today. We have boxes for lots of different mediums (with more in the pipeline!) and the great thing about these boxes is the fact they stack. When space is at a premium in your craft area, you don't want storage that takes up your precious work space, so the best way to go is up!
The boxes are made from 4mm MDF which makes them sturdy but not too heavy and the MDF is a great smooth surface to decorate too.
We kick off the launch week with a fantastic project from Moira.

That’s
Crafty! have launched a fantastic range of MDF stacking storage units today. I have been lucky enough to decorate the box
designed to store Alcohol Inks, Stickles and other bottles of that size. The
range includes storage units for lots of other mediums and you will be seeing
samples of all different units during the week which have been decorated by the
DT. I must say we all got very excited making them and sharing our pics with
each other as we went along. Partly
because it is fun to decorate an interesting shape but mainly because they are
such lovely quality and we know people will find them invaluable for keeping
stash under control.
The
units come ready to assemble. As it was obvious is would be difficult to
decorate inside the bottom of the box after it was constructed, I decorated the
top part of the bottom sheet before constructing making sure to avoid the tabs
and slots so the MDF did not swell. When the base was dry I put mine together
using the Cosmic Shimmer Glue but you could use any PVA, wood glue, Glossy Accents
etc. They are really easy to construct, popping tabs into slots and gluing.
To
decorate I started with a coat of gesso, then a coat of the Media Fluid
Acrylics Ultramarine and white mixed to make a light blue. I went over this
coat with the Ultramarine paint through an assortment of the Dinky Stencils and
finally a dry brush of white paint.
Next I
gave the four corners a thick coat of the DecoArt Media Crackle Paste and an
overcoat of the Ultramarine to colours the crackles.
I
stamped the Alice images on stamping paper
and coloured them in using the Pitt Pens as these are permanent and hand cut
them. The word stamps were stamped onto plain parts of pages in an old book and
the story text was copied and printed onto blank pages from an old book so they
all had a vintage feel. Images and text were applied with Gel Medium. I also
added a couple charms and a tiny bottle filled with a mysterious liquid. Then
just because I could, I added some blue Stickles.
To
protect the box from knocks (I am so clumsy) I gave it all a coat of the
Maimeri Glassy Gel.
