Harmony Canvas by Fliss Goodwin

Hi there, this week my project is a bright box canvas in celebration of the lovely sunny weather we’ve had over the last week. My treasured Gelatos have come out to play again along with my Stampendous Creative Palette which I can’t get enough of at the moment.

Here’s What You Need:

Artistic Outpost Serenity Unmounted Stamp Set
Flourish Dies – mine are by Whimsy Stamps
Gelatos – I used the Designing With Gelatos Colour Kit
7 x 5 Box Frame
Distress Inks – Seedless Preserves, Picked Raspberry, Ripe Persimmon
Resin Flower or Button

Here’s How To:
·       First paint the box frame with a couple of coats of gesso to give a good base for the Gelato. When the gesso is dry, scribble on some colour with a Gelato stick – I used Lemon – then brush with water to spread the paint over the entire canvas, adding more paint from the stick if necessary.

·       Now make the paper for die cutting the flowers and flourishes. I used thin card for this as the flower dies cut better on lighter weights of card or paper. I shaved some Gelato paint on to the mono printing plate, mixed the colours with water to make a thick, creamy consistency and then used the brayer to smooth the colour out. The colours I used are Metallic Melon, Gold Champagne and Tangerine. Press the card onto the plate to pick up the colour and repeat after misting with water.

·       Take another piece of thin white card and die cut the smallest and the second largest flower from it. Colour the larger flower with the purple ink and the smaller one with the pink. Die cut 2 more flowers from the painted paper – one with the second largest die and one with the next size down.

·       When the painted canvas is dry, use the orange and then the purple ink to partially stamp the fossil background in the corners and round the edges. Add a piece of grey washi tape across the canvas in the lower half. Assemble the flower as shown in the photo, adding a resin flower or button and stick to the canvas on the left side.

·       Die cut some flourishes from the remaining painted paper. Stamp the harmony text on a further scrap. Add these to the canvas to finish.

Have a great weekend and don’t forget to check out the new challenge on our challenge blog which goes live at 8 o’clock today.
