Happiness is Homemade (Door Hanger) by Lynne Moncrieff

With many crafters having the luxury of their own designated creative space I thought it would be a nice idea to create a door hanger for such a room. Although this door hanger, with its sewing related images, would probably be more suited to a fabric artist.

Supplies

Instructions

·       Firstly apply Gesso to door hanger then apply Fresco Finish Vintage Lace. Repeatedly stamp the button card from Oxford Impressions’ Sewing Notions stamp plate. Heat set before dry brushing Gesso and Fresco Finish Vintage Lace paint.  Lay aside.

·       Apply Distress Stain Tattered Rose to white cardstock.  Heat set before stamping lady sewing with Archival Sepia and the label with StazOn Timber Brown. Stamp Happiness is Homemade and dressmaker pin onto a scrap of Claudine Hellmuth Sticky Back Canvas. Slightly fray the edges. Onto a scrap of fabric stamp Sew. Attach a safety pin, dry brush with Gesso.

·       Start to layer the images to the door hanger along with fabric scrap, vintage crochet lace and a vintage button. Include a dressmaker snap dry brushed with Gesso.

·       Dry brush Gesso to a Tim Holtz Trinket Pin. Attach to a Tim Holtz Jump Ring, attaching scissor charm. Attach the Trinket Pin to the crochet lace at the bottom of the door hanger.

·       Apply Distress Stain Tattered Rose to seam binding. Once dry attach a tiny piece to the scissor charm. Tie another piece into a shabby bow and adhere at the top of the door hanger.

Until next week.
