Our Stories are Our Journey by Dorthe Hansen

11:00

So here we are, Monday the 8th already and I'm welcoming you to the new That's Crafty! blog with it's new beautiful look, as the first designer in 2018. I hope you will all follow us here to see the many exciting creations from the team.

My first sample this year is made on one of my favourite white/greyboard panels. I used the white side which was painted with one of the new beautiful paints, Orange. A very thinned down wash of White was painted over and when it was dry, I used a stencil - Wave Circles to create drifting clouds. I started with dabbing the White paint through the stencil and let it dry. Then I used the Weathered Wood ink but moved the stencil a bit to make a shadow effect.

From two new stamp sets I stamped the circles on the left side and the stitches on the right side of the panel, the stitches stamp will be in the shop very soon (15th January).

I love Laura's new houses made from greyboard sheets and I used a small one, painting it White and giving the roof a layer of crackle paint (Vintage Photo) - that made it the sweetest little cabin, the window was painted the same and the walls were defined with brown ink.

Onto old paper from a notebook I stamped the new crackle stamp and also the sweet heart from another exciting new stamp set, coming in the shop with the other one that I mentioned.

I tore a piece of paper then added ink around the outside and on top placed one of Lynne`s wonderful Affirmations which I  stamped onto cardstock, which I firstly painted with Orange. I cut it out as a tag, used the ink pad to define the outside and then made holes in both the tag and the paper with my Crop-A-Dile before adding a piece of Sari silk and adhered it to the upper left side. The crackle stamped paper was also torn out, added to the panel and the house on top. A piece of torn lace was adhered between the house and window and the heart stamped on paper on top of the lace.

The heart I painted with a blue Brush Marker and then created the ground under the house using torn lace strips.

The last thing to do was use the Gathered Twigs ink around the outside on the panel.

Thank you for still being here with me and have a most wonderful new week.

I wish you all a very Happy New Year.

Hugs and love
Dorthe

  14. What an enchanting little cottage, Dorthe! I wish I could open that sweet door and walk inside! What do I love most? Too many charming details to choose but one. The colors you chose are, can I say "soft and bright"? They have such a reflective liquid characteristic. The precious crackled, gingerbread looking roof is so delightful, along with the tiny blue heart, sari silk, dainty lace and...I could go on forever! Thank you for sharing your imaginative creation, Dorthe. I'm inspired. So happy to have you back, hope your Holy Days were blessed for you.
