Nature Blooms by Fliss Goodwin

Hi there, I have another of my samples for last week’s amazing sell out One Day Special on Hochanda today and this one has quite a few of the fabulous new products on it. It’s my favourite nature theme too and has lots of layers, which I really loved doing and one of them may just surprise you.

 Ingredients:

That’s Crafty! Clear Stamp Sets – Textures Collection Set 3, Lynne’s Affirmations Set 6
That’s Crafty! Multi Surface Paints – Chestnut Brown, Christmas Red, Evergreen, Green, Orange, Teal, White, Yellow
Ranger Archival Ink – Fern Green, Potting Soil
Fine Brown Pen
Pressed Flowers

Recipe:

First prepare the background, which I made by adding dots of Green and Yellow to the white side of the panel and spreading the colour with my brayer until it was covered. Once this was dry, I applied a pattern on 3 sides using the Daisy Frame stencil with the chestnut brown paint.

I then painted a couple of scraps of tissue paper, one yellow and the other Chestnut Brown mixed with White to make a softer shade. I stamped script on the Yellow one with Fern Green ink and then stamped on the postmark with the brown ink in the corner.

The brown one was stencilled with the fern image using the brown ink and I drew stitching round the edges with a fine pen.

My next layer was actually a piece of a baby wipe used to clean up paint and Infusions that I managed to spill on my kitchen worktop. The colours were interesting so I saved it and dried it on the radiator. I added a piece and as you’ll see, the under layer shows through giving a rather ethereal effect.

I then stamped the lace image on a scrap of pink stained paper and cut this out before layering this slightly over my leaf panel.

I embossed the heart with a floral embossing folder from my collection and painted it with a dusky pink mixed from Red, Orange and White. I then swiped Teal, White and some more of my dusky pink over the raised areas to produce a pretty pastel shade for contrast.

I next prepared my poppy, which is actually the bit I enjoyed the most, as I wanted to add more texture. I first painted it with Green and Evergreen Multi Surface Paints. I then sprinkled on some Infusions and misted the surface with water, allowing the colour to run down the poppy. I repeated this a couple of times, leaving some of the crystals and letting the walnut element show.

I finished off my panel with my chosen Affirmation stamped on pink stained paper using green ink and cut up, tucking a pressed flower under the heart and gluing a few petals that fell off on the panel and the painty baby wipe layer.

Have a great weekend and see you next week, which will, of course, be just before a certain festive day and I can’t believe how fast the time has flown!
