Be Thankful by Donna Gray

Hi everyone,

Donna here today with a nature inspired acrylic stack for you all.

What I did:

On the MDF base that comes with the acrylic stacks, I used a book page and gave it a very light coat of Gesso so you can still see there’s writing but I didn’t want it to dominate the background too much.

I wanted to try out how much I could add to the stack and of course still be able to close it! As long as you keep the natural elements quite flat than you should be okay, all the flowers and grasses etc you see here have been pressed first to ensure they are flat enough.

The layering is just a matter of choice in what goes where but make sure when you do layer that you’re not obscuring the layers too much underneath.

I added stamping to this with some PaperArtsy stamps, remember to always use Stazon ink directly on the acrylic as anything else will smear. The stitch type stamp is from my stash but you could easily doodle some stitch like lines.

I added some sentiments from Tim Holtz Clipping Stickers which I seem to put on everything I make!

Go on, have a look around your garden or go on a nature walk and see what you can collect to create your very own nature inspired keepsake.

  4. So amazing and beautiful you "filled" this acrylic stack, Donna.
I love the corrugated paper, and the stamping you did, and it looks interesting with the almost covered text behind, as a almost faded old story ..
So lucky you are, to have saved beauty from summer time, to use now,- it is a so lovely idea, and truly the most loveliest things you saved for the future like this !! A gorgeous creation , dear friend. Hugs, Dorthe, xx
