Motivational Journal Page by Fliss Goodwin

11:00

Hi there, I have a surprisingly quick to make journal page to share this week which could also be called if in doubt, put a butterfly on it as this is my go to element when I need something to finish off a creation and no apologies for that!

Ingredients:

That’s Crafty! Dinky Stencils - Distressed Harlequin Background, Flight of the Butterflies, Reverse Honeycomb Background
Archival Ink – Jet Black, Cobalt
PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Acrylic Paints – shades of yellow, blue and turquoise
Old Credit or Store Card

Recipe:

This really is easy I promise as all you do to start off is add large dots of paint to your craft mat, then pick the paint up with the old store card and scrape it onto your journal page. I started off with yellow, following up with blue and then a turquoise green shade as these colours all work well together if they get mixed as indeed they did!

I scraped the paint on horizontally first and then scraped on some blue vertically down the page to add some more interest. I followed this up with adding a bit more yellow until I was happy with the effect.

I then used the stencils to add some more interest, working with a deeper blue and a deep minty green. I allowed the harlequin pattern to fade out in all directions to draw everything together.

I stamped on my chosen text with the cobalt ink and then stamped a butterfly on mixed media paper with the black ink and painted the image deep blue and turquoise. I cut the butterfly out and added it to my page to finish it off.

We have a new challenge for you today over at That’s Crafty! Challenge Blog so do check that out to see how you can win a great prize just for entering.

Have a great weekend and see you next week.

  1. Love your scrape paint effects Fliss and your choice of colours. There's nothing more satisfying than working in a Journal when you have hand decorated the cover, it always gives me a spark of inspiration... and to add there's nothing wrong with adding a Butterfly to anything and everything I say :))

  8. There's such a lovely serenity to this. It may have been quick to make, but it slows the viewer down in a very relaxing way.
