Do You Believe? by Lynne Moncrieff

On receiving the Crafters Companion Textures Words of Wonder Set 1, filled with wonderfully useful words, it was Believe that jumped out at me and I couldn’t resist pairing it up with this loveable Santa from Oxford Impressions.

The time consuming part of this card is preparing the cardstock with paints, other than that it is so simple.

Archival Potting Soil Ink Pad
Watercolour Paper Hot Pressed and Cold Pressed
Extras:- Deli paper (not a perfect substitute but try working with Canvas Corp Tissuestock), wooden button, fabric scraps, ric rac and crochet doily

Generously mist both types of watercolour paper with water then with a watercolour brush apply all paint colours, continuing to  mist with water. Keep the metallic paints to a minimum and aim for an overall mottled effect. It is best if you can leave to dry naturally but if pushed for time, get the heat gun out!

Scrunch a piece of deli paper and apply the paints, randomly mixing as you apply onto the paper. Heat set, applying the heat close to the paper allowing the paint to slightly bubble.

Onto the cardbase I adhered the cold pressed watercolour paper, abrading the edges. Onto the hot pressed watercolour paper I stamped Santa, stars and sentiment. Highlight all with Stardust pen. Distress all edges before layering Santa and sentiment, including torn pieces of the painted deli paper. Adhere the stamped stars and finally embellish with trims, fabric scraps and a wooden button.

Until next week,
