Beauty Within by Fliss Goodwin

Hi there, I have a very simple tag to share this week featuring one of my favourite Carabelle Studio images, which I think would make a lovely addition to a gift for someone special.

Ingredients:

Brusho Crystals – Cobalt Blue, Turquoise
Stiff Paint Brush (Dina Wakley’s are fab)
Vintage Book Page
Coloured Pencils such as Spectrum Noir
Soft Pencil
Pink Ribbon

Recipe:

Using a stiff paintbrush, brush the book page with the gesso to partly obscure the text and give a good surface for stamping. Once it is dry, stamp on the Helena image with the dark grey ink.

Colour the image with pencils – I used a mix of Spectrum Noir and Inktense pencils and then brushed over the top with a brown watercolour pencil on the hair and a light brown on the flesh to give Helena a bit of a tanned look. I then cut the image out.

Sprinkle the tag with the Brusho colours and gently mist with water to spread the paint. I found the darker blue looked more of a purple but Brusho crystals are a bit unpredictable which is half the fun I think! Let the tag dry fully and iron flat if necessary.

Glue the image to the tag and trim off the excess. You’ll find the image is just slightly too large for the tag but doesn’t suffer for being trimmed on the right side. Add some word stickers from the book and knot some ribbon through the top to finish.

Don’t forget to check out the Challenge Blog at 8am as we have a new challenge going live today and as usual there’s a £20 voucher for the online shop for the randomly drawn winner.

See you next week.

  1. She looks wonderful stamped on book pages. With that sentiment it would make a great gift tag for toiletries or make-up.
