Totally Tropical by Fliss Goodwin

Hello there, I have a very bright creation to share this week as I’ve been feeling in need of cheering up in the current chilly and rather dismal weather we have where I live. My treasured Gelato kit came to the rescue and the tropical look came about totally by accident – I sometimes think serendipity is my middle name!

Ingredients:

Distress Inks – Ripe Persimmon, Picked Raspberry, Black Soot, Wild Honey
Thick Card or Chipboard

Recipe:

·       First make the papers. Cut a larger and smaller square of watercolour paper – mine are 15cm square and 11cm square. Paint the larger one with mostly yellow and a little orange Gelato and the smaller with more orange so that you have a contrast.

·       Using the foam stamp in the kit, stamp the larger square with the design using the orange Distress ink and then stamp in between with the Wild Honey ink. Stamp the same design on the smaller square with the pink Distress ink. You should now be able to see where the tropical look came from!

·       Cut a further square of watercolour paper slightly larger than the smaller decorated square and rub the edges with the blue shade of Gelato from the kit. Spread the colour by dipping your finger in water and rubbing the paper. A bit messy but very effective!

·       Die cut a butterfly from more watercolour paper and emboss with the folder included with the die set. Paint with the blue Gelato and rub the green shade over the raised areas. Using the ink applicator, rub black ink round the edges and over the body of the butterfly.

·       Cut a square of thick card or chipboard the same size as the largest panel of decorated paper then add all the layers as shown in the photo, sandwiching a piece of ribbon inside to create the hanger.
