Passionate Hearts by Deborah

A selection of stencils including:
The Crafter's Workshop: Mini Love Post (for the two elongated hearts)
Artist Cellar Sacred Hearts: Divine (rays at the top of the blog, large heart))
Wendy Vecchi Studio 490: Dots and Stripes (the stripes at the bottom of the tag)

Tags are a great way to use up your gelli print scraps and painted papers, especially if, like me, you keep all but the tiniest scraps. I collected together green/yellow scraps than added some blueish- purple ones to add some contrast. I cut out two hearts from a gelli print made with the Love Post stencil and the larger heart from the Divine stencil.

Once I had glued them down on the tag, I outlined each piece - first with a jade green watercolour pencil, then with the black fine liner. The faces and sentiments were stamped onto painted scraps and the cheeks and lips coloured with watercolour pencil.

To finish, I used my Crop-A-Dile to re-punch the hole at the top that had been covered with paper and sprayed some Tim Holtz Crinkle Ribbon before drying it with the heat gun and threading it through.

  1. Very cool and love the colours

  2. Fab tag Debs. Love all the layering and the fresh shades of green.

  5. Lovely, great idea for using up all those scraps x

  6. Perfect combination of colours, pattern and stamp choices. It all just works... beautifully.
