Ssssh! Here Comes Santa Claus by Lynne Moncrieff

This week I am sharing a box I altered for gift presentation. After the gift has been removed the box could be displayed alongside other Christmas decorations in the person’s home.

Lots and lots of Glamour Dust was used on this project!

Supplies

Clear Scraps Nordic Snowflake Stencil
PaperArtsy Fresco:- Blush, Antarctic
DécoArt Glamour Dust – Crystal
Idea-ology Ring Fastener
White Cardstock Scrap
Extras:- papier mache box, lace, beaded dangle, jingle bells, beaded trim and coarse modelling paste (purchased from a supermarket)

Instructions

Apply two thin coats of Gesso to the box.

Stencil Nordic Snowflakes around base of box with light modelling paste. Once dry paint base with Antarctic and lid with Blush. Leave to dry.

Layer lace and beaded trim around lid’s edge before piercing a hole and inserting Ring Fastener onto which a beaded dangle is attached with a jump ring (I swiped Gesso onto the Ring Fastener).

Apply, with fingers and baby wipe, Iridescent Paste over the paint. Once dry adhere torn pieces of lace to lid.

Apply coarse modelling paste to lid, creating peaks followed by generously applying Glamour Dust.

Paint Woodland Tree, including the base and again, generously sprinkle Glamour Dust.  Roughly apply Gesso to jingle bells before tucking them inside the tree.

Stamp Santa onto cardstock scrap painted with Blush. Highlight areas with Glamour Dust.  Adhere little tabs to the back of Santa’s boots to allow him to stand.

Adhere tree and Santa to the lid applying more of the coarse modelling paste, building it up to create the illusion that Santa is trudging through deep snow. Leave to dry.

The box is now ready to tuck a gift inside.

Until next time,

Lynne
