Scribbly Red Robin by Fliss Goodwin

Hi there, I’ve finally got my inky fingers on a set of Dina Wakley’s scribbly birds and my first creation is a clean and simple Christmas card with a bright and funky style.

Ingredients:

Brusho Crystals – Lemon, Yellow Ochre, Leaf Green, Scarlet, Sandstone
Red Marker Pen (water based)
Paintbrushes

Recipe:

·       First make your background paper. If you make an A4 or 5 size piece, you’ll have enough to make several cards. Mist the watercolour paper with water and sprinkle on some of the Brusho crystals. Allow them to spread across the paper, tipping to help the flow.

·       Spritz on more water if desired and add a tiny amount of crystal until you’re happy with the colour. Dry the paper with a heat gun. Stamp on the holly design, inking up with the olive and colouring the berries with the red marker. Repeat the inking and colouring until the whole paper is stamped.

·       Stamp one of the birds on the stamping paper with the Watering Can ink and paint with the red and brown Brusho crystals. Cut the bird out.

·       Stamp the Christmas text on a piece of scrap paper using the dark grey ink. Trim to a small panel and colour with the yellow ochre Brusho crystals.

·       Assemble the card as shown, cutting a strip of holly paper to fit across the card. Add the bird and the text over the top.

I’ll be back next week with a completely different project created with the cute birds.

See you then.
