Bird On A Bough by Fliss Goodwin

Hi there, as promised I have another project to share this week using the gorgeous and quirky Dina Wakley Scribbly Birds set which has become my current favourite bird set. This time I’ve created a little piece on a panel of heavy board similar to those in the online shop by PaperArtsy.

Distress Inks – Peacock Feathers, Gathered Twigs, Crushed Olive, Peeled Paint, Tattered Rose, Frayed Burlap
Heavy Board Panel – such as those by PaperArtsy
Embossing Folders of choice – floral for the heart and stripe or swirl for the branches

·       Cut a piece of stamping paper to fit your chosen board panel. Use the Brusho Crystals with water to mix up a paint and apply this in a wash to the paper. You don’t need to be precise as splotches will give a good grungy effect.

·       Using the Peacock Feathers ink, stamp the wood panel design all over the painted paper, first down and then across to make a grid design. Glue this to the board panel and draw faux zigzag stitching around the edges.

·       Cut a large homespun heart shape out with the largest die (I used a scrap of painted paper from my bits box. Paint this with the pink paint and dry emboss with a floral folder – mine is Anna Griffin.

·       Stamp a bird with the Archival ink on stamping paper and colour with the pink and brown Distress inks. Cut out when dry.

·       Draw a branch shape on stamping paper, cut out and colour with the Gathered Twigs ink. Emboss with a swirl or stripe embossing folder. Colour a further scrap of stamping paper with the green inks and hand cut small leaf shapes. Score down the centre and fold to make more life-like. Add detail with a pencil if you like.

·       Assemble the panel as you like using a mix of glue and foam pads for added dimension and finish off with the text panel, stamped with the grey ink and inked with pink Distress ink.

We have a new challenge for you over at the Challenge Blog today so don’t forget to check it out at 8am and find out how you can win a £20 voucher to spend in the online shop.
