Joie de Vivre by Donna Ratcliff

Morning all! Stamping time today with a combination of two things I love firstly some lovely Artistic Outpost stamps and secondly a tag. So first off here’s what I used……

Artistic Outpost Stamp Set – Paris Exposition
Kaisercraft Clear Stamp - Script
Distress Inks – Old Paper, Wild Honey, Tea Dye, Black Soot
Memento Ink – Tuxedo Black
ProMarkers – Satin, Putty, Pastel Blue, Denim Blue, Poppy, Cool Grey 1, Cool Grey 2

….and now we’ve collected the supplies, here’s what to do…..

1. First off take an ivory tag; I cut mine using the Tim Holtz Tag and Bookplate die, then using some Cut ‘n’ Dry blend Old Paper, Wild Honey and Tea Dye Distress inks onto the surface.

2. Next ink up the Kaisercraft Script stamp with black Memento and randomly stamp on tag, then ink up the lady from the Paris Exposition plate and stamp in the bottom left corner of the tag.

3. Once you’ve stamped the lady take a damp paintbrush and lift off some of the colour from her face and some of her clothes. She’ll look a little scary to start with but don’t worry you’re going to then give her a little colour with ProMarkers.

4. Right now to make a little stamped collage. First mask off the lady and stamp the Eiffel Tower image to her right, then mask off that and stamp one of the smaller balloons, and then add another. Then stamp the larger balloon top left, mask off part of that and add the wording in the middle. Then use some of the other words to add bit more interest. Also add a little colour to some of the images using the ProMarkers.

5. On a spare bit of card stamp the ‘Joie de Vivre’ sentiment, shade the card with distress ink and then add a little blue ProMarker to tie the colours in with rest of tag. Glue in place with Cosmic Shimmer.

6. Right almost finished! Now to make some paper ribbon to pleat along the bottom of the tag; firstly take a scrap of white paper and stamp with the Kaisercraft Script. Then very lightly shade the paper with Old Paper Distress ink and then taking the Poppy and the Denim Blue ProMarkers draw some stripes leaving a space between the colours…….you’re going for a French flag look. Now you could measure it all out so it was nice and neat but in my opinion life’s too short so I just eyeballed it!!

7. Once you’ve got it coloured then simply fold and pleat it and then glue it to base of tag with Cosmic Shimmer glue. Now when I had glued mine in place I decided it was too deep, so I cut a thin strip off with a pair of scissors and because it seemed a shame to chuck it away I added it to the body of the tag just along the edge of the Joie De Vivre tab…….one of those happy accidents that I decided I rather liked!

8. Finish off with some ribbon and a little twine.

So hope you enjoyed our little balloon flight to Paris! Have a lovely weekend and see you next week.

  1. Awesome, Donna! I love the paper ruffle at the bottom. The red, blue and grey really lift that vintage old paper look.
