The Wise Old Oak by Donna Ratcliff

Distress Inks – Chipped Sapphire, Fired Brick and Mustard Seed
Memento Ink Pad – Tuxedo Black
Cosmic Shimmer Glue
Black Eyelets
Beads, Eyepins and Chain
White Card, Blue Card
Die Cut Fence

Well today I thought I’d share with you a little hanging piece I made using a lovely big tree stamp by Sheena Douglass.
1.    Start off by cutting a piece of white card into a square measuring approximately 5” square. Then using some Cut ’n’ Dry blend the Distress Inks starting with the darkest colours on the outside moving into the brighter ones in the middle. Make sure you put on plenty of ink; you want a good depth of colour.

2.    Lightly sponge on some of the Pearl Cosmic Shimmer Spray onto the background… don’t want too much, just enough to give a gentle shimmer and to move the Distress inks a little.  Dry with a heat gun, then with a paint brush lightly brush ‘rays’ of the pearl shimmer coming from the middle of your background.

3.    Make sure background is completely dry and if possible wipe over with an anti-static pad…….you’re going to be embossing with black and you don’t want any stray bits! Ink up the Majestic Oak with Perfect Medium and stamp in the middle of the background you’ve created. Then use some black embossing powder and heat emboss with your heat gun.

4.    Mat and layer your stamped piece onto a slightly larger piece of white card and then onto some blue card. Add a little die cut fence across the bottom of the picture. Add a couple of eyelets at the top and if you want to finish with beads you will also need to add some eyelets along the bottom.

5.    Stamp the three words in black onto some scraps of white card, cut out and layer onto some blue card. Glue into position.

6.    Add some chain through the top eyelets, I used silver chain I had in my stash but there’s some great Idea-ology chain in the shop that would be perfick! Then add some bead droplets if you want to and you’re finished!

Have a lovely weekend and see you next week
Donna xx
