The Bird Sings For You by Lynne Moncrieff

This week I fired up my melt pot to add touches of beewax to a small, bird themed canvas with a nature theme to it.

Supplies

Hero Arts - French Script
Martha Stewart Paint – Porcelain Doll, Putty and Sea Lavender
Cream Acrylic Paint
Handmade/Mulberry Paper
Canvas
Lace
Paper Punch – Tag
Tim Holtz Tissue Tape
Extras:- raffia, bark, lace daisy, blue heritage colour emulsion paint, scrap of script scrapbook paper, scrap of book text (Old German), feather and soft cloth, French book text.

Instructions

Apply Gesso followed with a mix of all the different paints, removing paint here and there with a baby wipe.

Roughly stamp script stamp onto the canvas. Heat set.

Adhere scraps of script scrapbook paper and old German book text. Randomly apply melted beeswax to the canvas focusing on the various papers in particular. Buff with a soft cloth.

Adhere lace to the canvas.

Stamp feather onto mulberry paper. Cut out. Gather a real feather, Prima flower and lace daisy and adhere as a grouping on the bottom corner.

Apply Gesso to vintage French book text. Stamp branch, bird on the branch and also stamp postal marks and script from the larger bird collage.

Fussy cut bird on branch and adhere to Prima bark. Lay aside for the moment.

Adhere all the stamped elements to the canvas and the bark circle to the centre of the canvas.

Finally attach a small piece of bark to the top of the canvas.

For the tag – swipe blue emulsion paint onto a paper punched tag shape. Adhere Tissue Tape scrap then dip the tag into the melted beeswax. Buff with cloth and adhere to top corner embellishing with a raffia bow.

NOTE

·       once the beeswax has been applied to the canvas (and tag) it can be re-heated with a heat gun for you to smooth the surface.

Thank you for visiting.

Wishes,

Lynne
