A Peaceful Christmas by Lynne Moncrieff

My final DT project for 2013 sees me using some beautiful metallic paints from Martha Stewart. I am very impressed with the paints, they have lovely depth of colour and such a fabulous range to select from.

Supplies

Martha Stewart Paints:- Champagne, Rose Gold, Rose Chrome
Big Boss Clear Embossing Ink Pad
Extras:- Corrugated cardboard (old box packaging), lace, wax paper, metal frames, 8”x8” cardbase, twinkling embossing powder, French book page, sheet music stamp (I used Oxford Impressions Season of Giving), fragment of stained seam binding.

INSTRUCTIONS

With the Nordic Snowflake stencil and Maimeri Light Modelling Paste create pattern on 8”x8” cardbase.

Once dry apply Champagne paint.

Add a band of lace to the card then lay aside.

Apply all three metallic paints to the snowflake then apply the Iridescent Paste. I applied several layers, creating texture at the same time.

Apply Gesso and the same paints to a metal frame and Rose Gold to a Studio Calico Starburst and Tiny Star. Once dry adhere all to create a luxurious embellishment.

While you have the paints in front of you apply them to guipure lace, wax paper and more stars.

Ink up Madonna and Child with Archival (I use a Speedball brayer). Stamp onto glossy cardstock. Edge image with Vintage Mica Flakes in Precious Gold.

Layer onto the painted wax paper and in turn layer onto corrugated cardboard which has been dry brushed with Gesso and randomly swiped with an embossing ink pad and heat embossed with twinkling embossing powder.

Heat emboss sentiment onto painted book text. Adhere to panel.

Trim panel with the painted lace.

Adhere panel to cardbase and embellish with the snowflake.

Beside me I had a fragment of stained lace and stamped sheet music so I also added those to the card.

Finally paint Tiny Stars with the metallic paints and adhere a scattering to the cardbase.

Festive Wishes to all of you and I hope to see you all in the New Year when I will be sharing my next DT project.
