Butterfly Watching By Fliss Goodwin

Hi there, I have a card for you this week which I’ve made for my Mother in Law’s birthday at the weekend, as she really loves rabbits having had them for years when my hubby and his brother were growing up. I absolutely love these very cute and slightly quirky Alice Palace bunnies by Crafty Individuals and this was the perfect opportunity to ink them up.

Here’s What You Need:
Distress Inks – Crushed Olive, Mustard Seed, Tattered Rose, Milled Lavender
Deckle Edge Decorative Scissors
White Square Card Blank

Here’s How To:

Cut a piece of watercolour paper to fit the card blank and mist lightly with water until the paper is damp. Starting with the olive ink, apply a band of ink across the base of the paper with an ink applicator. You will find that as the paper is absorbent, having it damp makes it much easier to apply the ink. Repeat this step with the remaining Distress inks, adding yellow, then pink and finally lavender. Leave to dry naturally or use a heat gun if, like me, you’re impatient!

Stamp the bunnies and some butterflies on a scrap of watercolour paper with the coffee ink and colour these with the AquaMarkers. I use colour scribbled on a ceramic plate or craft mat and pick up the colour with a damp paintbrush. Cut them all out when dry.

Using the meadow silhouette stamp and the VersaFine Spanish Moss ink, stamp the image twice across the bottom of the inked paper, re-inking each time. Trim the edges with the deckle scissors and stick to the card blank.

Arrange the bunnies and the butterflies as you would like them on the card front and when you’re happy with the arrangement, stick them on with foam pads.

Have a great weekend.

  3. The sun setting behind them is lovely, or is it the sun rising? Anyway this is delightful.
