Nature Quilt By Fliss Goodwin

Hello there, another rather simple creation from me this week as I wanted to use up some of the leftovers from my sepia toned vintage family wall hanging artwork from a couple of weeks ago. I decided to go with one of the things on trend at the moment, hexagon shaped quilt panels which seem to be everywhere. What I’ve created is the cover for a little nature themed notebook that I’ll be adding too over the next couple of months.

Here’s What You Need:

White Gesso – I used Claudine Hellmuth’s
Kraft Card A5 Card Blank
Vintage Book Page
Hexagon Die or Template

Here’s How To:

·       First you need to add a coat of gesso to your vintage book page to knock the text back a little. I applied this with a cosmetic sponge as it gives a lighter, more delicate effect than a brush and allows the text to show through.

·       When the paint is dry, use a hexagon die or a hexagon shaped template around 5.5cm high and cut out 5 shapes (or as many as you need for your chosen surface size). Stamp on the birds from the Meadow Lark set, the wild flower from the Charlotte’s Dream set twice and the flourish from the same set using the coffee ink.

·       On the bottom right corner of the cover, stamp the Paper Artsy text with the coffee ink. Add the stamped hexagons in a diagonal line as shown and add the remaining shape at the top of cover.

How easy is that! The inside pages will follow soon.

Have a great weekend.

  1. The hexagons work beautifully as a way of highlighting small stamps. A really stylish card, Fliss.

  2. Definitely like the use of the hexagons.
Cannot wait to see the pages that will follow.

  3. It may be simple, but it's so effective. Gorgeous white against the kraft, and the stamping is beautiful.

  4. Stunning stamping, love it, a real eye catcher! Great use of thos hexagons and you arranged just right against the background, - it looks fab!
