As Time Slips By by Lynne Moncrieff

With Father’s Day fast approaching it seemed timely (!) to share this altered clock kit.

I always had a notion to alter a clock, so when I saw this kit at That’s Crafty I was keen to have some fun with it.

This kit comes with the cog clock face, clock mechanism with hanger, hands, etc and with full instructions on how to assemble.

Supplies

Eco Green Crafts Acrylic Paints:- Birch, Green Patina, Aged Gold and Bronze
Heat Gun (optional)
Cog
Watch Parts
Gold Gilding Pen
Baby Wipes

Instructions

1.    Firstly I prepared the base with Gesso before applying EcoGreen Crafts Acrylic Paint in Birch then heat set. For Green Patina, Aged Gold and Bronze I applied with baby wipes, blending the colours, heat setting as I worked.

2.    The text stamp from Oxford Impressions London Telegraph was repeatedly stamped onto the cog with StazOn Timber Brown. Then I applied PaperArtsy Fresco Satin Finish to the cog.

3.    Antique Linen Distress Stain was applied to white cardstock and heat set before stamping the man in pocket watch from Oxford Impressions Times Past, four times. For variety, I stamped the image with StazOn Timber Brown, Archival Sepia and VersaFine Vintage Sepia. I used a craft knife to cut the images before applying Crackle Accents – I applied quite a thick layer. Once dry, I sponged Distress Ink in Tea Dye to enhance the crackle.

4.    The images were adhered with Gel Medium to the clock. To ensure good adhesion, I ran the brayer over each image.

5.    Applied with Glossy Accents a cog and watch parts embellish the clock.

6.    Follow the instructions to assemble the clock parts and finally insert one AA battery and the clock is ready to display.

Until next week.

Wishes

Lynne
