Spring Gal Altered Frame By Fliss Goodwin

Hello, you can probably guess from my photo that Spring is still in my thoughts and I couldn’t wait to make something with this gorgeous new Garden Gal image by Stampendous. She’s so pretty with all those flowers on her hat so I decided to surround her with one of my favourite flowers – pansies and made a little altered frame to sit her in.

Here’s What You Need:

Stamps Used:

Scraps of Olive Green Card
Watercolour Pencils
Wire
Ranger Emboss It Dabber

Here’s How To:

·       Paint the frame base with the willow paint dabber, you may need 2 coats to cover well. When dry stamp on the ribbon and roses background with the moss ink (I stamped it first on scrap paper to make sure the stamping wasn’t too dark).

·       Paint the frame with the vintage lace paint and then repeat stamp the smallest pansy from the flower heads set all around with the grape ink. Ink up the frame with the embossing dabber and heat emboss with clear powder.

·       Stamp the main image and a selection of the largest and medium sized pansies on white card with the maroon ink. If you’re wondering why I chose a dark red it’s because the pansies look rather realistic with this colour in the centre. Stamp some leaves (the choice is yours) on white card with the moss ink.

·       Colour the main image and the pansies with the watercolour pencils.  I chose strong pastel spring shades and coloured the pansies as close to nature as I could. Cut the main image out leaving a fairly wide border on the right side and at the base. Cut out the pansies and leaves.

·       Die cut some flourishes from the green card scraps with the die set. I cut one set from a deeper green and one from a lighter green. Pierce a hole at the top of the frame base and twist some wire through to make the hanger.

·       Assemble the frame as you like, adding the lady first and then the embellishments using a mix of double sided tape and foam pads.

Hope you like this and will see you next week.
