Octopode Steampunk Frame by Mandy C

If you are visiting from the UKScrappers Sponsor Blog Hop, you may have come here from SJ Crafts. After commenting (and please BE SURE TO MENTION YOUR UKS USER NAME in your comment) hop on to Truly Madly Crafty. If you lose your way, hop to the UKS post here to see the whole linked list. Be sure to reply in that thread when you complete the hop!
We have a fab prize on offer too. We will randomly draw a name from the comments that have been left on our Blog during the Blog Hop (ends Midnight tonight) and the lucky winner will receive 3 of The Octopode Factory stamps (Steampunk Alfie, Steampunk Border and Clock Background), plus a plywood frame.

Firstly, get all the items you will need .... for this frame I’ve used, the plywood frame, Gesso from Studio, Black Archival Ink Pad, white tissue paper, stamps from The Octopode Factory ~ the Clock Background, the *new* Steampunk Border, Steampunk Alfie, the Squiggly Mushroom, Steampunk Words and the White Rabbit’s Pocket Watch.  I also used the Vintage Cosmic Shimmer Mists, watercolour pencils, Brown StazOn Ink Pad and Eco Green Crafts paint in Periwinkle. The adhesives I used were Studio Multi Medium ~ Matte and FlitterGlu.

Paint a layer of gesso onto the frame, whilst this is drying take your tissue paper and stamp the clocks background stamp several times. Tear the backgrounds out of the tissue (tearing gives a better edge when using tissue).

Paint the frame with the Periwinkle Eco paint. Leave to dry.

Whilst the frame is drying, stamp out the images you want to use onto some thick white paper (I’ve used 160 gsm). I’ve only stamped out the stem part of the Squiggly Mushroom.

Colour the stamped images in with watercolour pencils. Leave to dry and then
cut out so they are ready to use.

I attached the Squiggly Mushroom stems to the pocket watch to make watch flowers.

Take your frame and begin layering on the tissue paper background,
using the Matte Medium. When you have covered the whole of the
frame with the tissue paper, leave to dry.

Once dry, and using the Vintage Cosmic Shimmer sprays, spray
randomly all over the frame, leave to dry
.

Take a co-ordinating piece of card (one that is slightly bigger than the inside of the frame). Stamp the Steampunk Words, first in Gesso and then in Black Archival. Dry with a heat tool. Position so the words are showing in the frame and glue down. Using the Flitterglu,
glue down the Steampunk Border, Alfie and the Pocket Watch Flowers.
I added a couple of pieces of black foam pads behind the two lightbulbs.

Hope you enjoyed my project for the UKScrappers Sponsor Blog Hop and your next hop is
Truly Madly Crafty.
